Suffice it to say, it’s time to address the big question, right? Ever since Season 1 ended with such a strong performance for One Piece on Netflix, everyone has been eager to hear something about the next season.
I’ve been hitting the refresh button so much that it almost acts like a real-life Devil Fruit! Luckily, we have several solutions. We’re inching closer, and we’re already receiving some small bits of information during production.
It works much like a new treasure map, but instead of gold, there are more opportunities to see One Piece.
I think I was prepared to be underwhelmed when Season 1 was released. Many times, our most-loved anime series have turned into flops just as quickly as a pirate ship being hijacked.
What about the anime titled One Piece? It worked. I liked the full team of actors; everyone stuck close to the manga spirit, and the animated artwork was breathtaking.
It gave me the same enjoyable feeling as those initial chapters did when I first read the manga. Since the Zoom days of 2020, we’ve watched a lot of shows, so it was great to watch something so carefully crafted.
Since filming finished for Season 2 and work in the studio has started, everyone is starting to get even more eager. The release date is still not set, but signs point to late 2025 or early 2026 (more will be revealed at the Tudum event coming up on May 31!). However, we have seen glimpses of the hard work involved in each new story arc.
1. A Closer Look at Important Storylines: From the Land of Loguetown to Drum Island

Some important storylines from the One Piece manga and anime will be brought to life in Season 2. Let’s not forget Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island, which taught us a big lesson about forgiveness.
It isn’t simply a pleasant walk along the Grand Line; it really picks things up and pulls me into the show’s most exciting and famous scenes and introductions.
Imagine everything it would take to convert the play into a movie. Two ancient giants named Dorry and Broggy live on Prehistoric Island, along with the tricky Mr. 3. Photos taken on set recently let us see how massive this location is, featuring a huge wax candle, a hint at the talents Mr. 3 exhibits with his wax fruits.
The mere sight of the candle makes me eager to watch how they design and stage the huge fight scene. As for the government, they are sure to have quality actions in their final moments.
2. New Characters, Well-Known Settings: Introducing Fresh Blood to the TV Series
Thankfully, the Straw Hat crew of Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) all return in this movie! The chemistry between the two contributors made Season 1 very popular.
However, Season 2 introduces lots of new characters, some of whom became beloved by the audience and play an essential role in the story.
We are referring to
Lera Abova portrayed the interesting character of Nico Robin (Negotiator). Their lives are turned upside-down when she joins their ranks.
Joe Manganiello does a powerful job as Sir Crocodile (Mr. 0). This man is a real bad guy, was once a warlord, and is a major risk to our home.
Callum Kerr is the actor who plays Smoker, and Julia Rehwald plays Tashigi. They are hotly pursuing the Straw Hats and especially Luffy.
The cute doctor reindeer is Tony Tony Chopper! Although the full live-action version of Deadpool is still secret, the news of his pink hat getting revealed has captured fans’ imagination.
In the series, Daniel Lasker plays Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson plays Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn is Miss Valentine, David Dastmalchian is Mr. 3, Sophia Ann Caruso plays Miss Goldenweek, and Charithra Chandran is Miss Wednesday (who has been rechristened as Nefertari Vivi!).
Kate Sagal, Mark Harelik, Ty Keogh, and Rob Colletti are set to join the cast of One Piece as Dr. Kureha, Dr. Hiriluk, Dalton, and Wapol, respectively.
The increased number of characters indicates how grand the stories will be. There will be more exciting battles, surprising experiences, and even more of the peculiar characters that make One Piece a classic.
3. Set photos and sneak peeks: Details can be devilish!
Netflix has mostly kept details confidential, yet a few pictures from behind the scenes give us a glimpse of the show.
We visited Loguetown with Charithra Chandran (Miss Wednesday), who revealed that the set was made with a lot of attention to detail. I look forward to seeing the close attention they attach to such main spots.
As previously mentioned, the huge wax candle display for Mr. 3’s skills was obvious. This confirms that One Piece is willing to present the unique properties of Devil Fruits.
Netflix uploaded a picture of the main actors to celebrate the end of filming. They were in what seemed like a city festival with signs referring to Marine Victory Day and the 22nd anniversary of Gold Roger’s death.
It suggests the Loguetown plot and the world story shaped after the Straw Hats explore the Grand Line. I admire them for adding small Easter eggs to keep eagle-eyed fans happy.
Even these small bits of evidence point to the team ensuring accuracy and grandiose scenes. They are trying to relive Oda’s exciting world, and I think their efforts are outstanding.
4. Once Again, Oda Sends His Stamp of Approval
A huge factor in why Season 1 was so popular with fans was Eiichiro Oda being directly behind and approving it. He stated that he would only allow it if it was top-quality. Guess what? Season 2 very much involves his character!
The director, Oda, made trips to the South African locations where the shooting was done. The actor has apparently met up with both the former and current members of the cast. You can tell Stranger Things 2 is exciting for him; he stated that it might even be better than Season 1.
What makes this significant is that Steve Jobs is personally supporting it. His input makes sure that anything new fits into the main vision of One Piece. Having such dedication is what makes everything better.
5. When Will We Be Able to Set Sail?
All scenes have been captured on film. The post-production stage has begun. Exactly when will we have the chance to watch it? Isn’t that the main issue, after all? They have not set an official date for the launch just yet. The majority of experts suggest that it will happen in late 2025 or early 2026.
Why take so long? One Piece is neither low-budget nor an indie film. Many practical effects, CGI, and meticulous planning are needed for such a film.
Work in post-production typically takes a lot of time since many special effects, edits, and the perfect sounds are needed to make the series special.
I would often survive by eating microwave meals in the past. All I do now is hope for some announcement about when the game will come out.
Many people are speculating that the Tudum event on May 31, 2025, will reveal concrete information on the story. You can anticipate a trailer, more footage from behind the scenes, and, of course, the release date.
Don’t forget to take note, as it will be our big spot along the upcoming Grand Line adventure!
The Thrill Rides On …
The special features in One Piece Season 2 are not only lovely pictures but also a guarantee of things to come. There’s no doubt that the same level of passion, dedication, and careful attention made Season 1 a hit all over the globe.
The remarkable sets for Little Garden and the cast picks for the new shows all add to the anticipation.
If you’re still here, it means you’re enjoying this topic. The same goes for me. The live-action One Piece is more than a series; it celebrates one of our most cherished tales.
The idea that Oda is still responsible for Season 2 gives me great confidence. The Grand Line is going to get significantly more exciting, dangerous, and appealing. Set yourself up, Nakama. The new chapter is about to be revealed!
