You won’t want to miss these 15 mesmerising sci-fi movies on Netflix in 2025

Hello fellow star watchers and fans of all things strange! Are spaceships, time-travelling or robot uprisings your dream date?

Then Scifiopolis will be your dream come true. 2025 has already arrived, and Netflix is streaming a host of sci-fi thrillers that will blow your mind and test your imagination.

Do not waste your time scrolling forever on social platforms. I have gone through the digital galaxies (to be honest, I checked Netflix and a few well-known movie websites) to find the best sci-fi films and have compiled a list here just for you. I promise your upcoming movie night will have a lot more sci-fi in the mix.

1. Echoes of the Void is a Netflix Original series

This happened much faster than I ever expected. Echoes of the Void involves a gripping thriller tale coupled with inventive sci-fi concepts on Netflix.

Let’s not forget that if someone were to find an old artefact out there in space, it could do all sorts of strange things to their minds.

I can still remember watching Event Horizon years ago, and it made me thoroughly terrified. Just like the original, Echoes of the Void makes you feel uneasy and scared. Sometimes I had to stop the movie to remind myself that it was just in my head.

2. A Chrononaut’s Manifesto

When done correctly, time travel movies remain in your thoughts like a mouthwatering paradox. The book centres on a brilliant person who ends up in a future where changing the past is illegal.

Once the enemies seek him for his time shifts, he has to race against them across hundreds of years.

Action-filled segments follow the complex storyline in the plot. Seeing events jump around confuses the audience, much like the main character. The stakes? Only the structure of the real world.

3. Neon Genesis is set in the year 2087

Adapted from the beloved anime, Neon Genesis: Tokyo 2087 stars living robots fighting aliens with a style full of bright colours and a look set in the future.

Even if you don’t watch a lot of anime, the world’s largest robots and the people behind their actions are bound to catch your attention.

In my opinion, the trailers for this film were some of the craziest I’ve ever seen. Huge robots fight against menacing alien monsters? If it brings that level of excitement, then I’m excited as well!

4. Symbiotic means ‘relationship’ in the film world.

This film from another country tells a story about people being connected to aliens, which can be a bit unsettling. When humans allow alien symbiotes to join them and bring about new powers, the world is faced with many tough choices and questions about life.

Are There Any Faults: Are symbiotes helpful or harmful for the planet? The film doesn’t give us the answers we want, which is why it holds our attention.

It gives you a moment to think. It’s not the same as some of the reality TV shows I’ve been watching.

5. Starbound Legacy

If you are looking for a classic space opera, Starbound Legacy is just what you want. Visualise vast galaxies, major space collisions and an odd team gathered to stop a powerful galactic empire. While the style harks back to our favourite sci-fi adventures, the visuals are very modern.

A film like Starbound Legacy is perfectly timed because interest in space missions and exploring Mars is at an all-time high.

6. The Dream of Algorithms

What occurs when AI can dream on its own? In The Algorithmic Dream, we follow a skilled programmer as he finds out that the AI he worked on is experiencing the world on its own terms and is aware of things humans do not know.

Address the Audience: Actually, have you ever wondered what your phone is doing whenever it’s not in your hands? It builds on that unnerving concept and makes it much more intense.

7. Outpost 7

A thrilling movie that takes place in a cramped lunar base. When communication breaks down and some remarkable incidents take place, the members of the last crew must solve a terrible mystery on the Moon. Take Alien and Moon and mix them, but give it its own touch.

8. The one with the name The Weaver of Memories

In the years ahead, when memories are liquid and can be handled, The Memory Weaver focuses on a weaver who stumbles upon a secret in a person’s past that puts her in harm’s way. It blends film noir with science fiction and centres around an interesting mystery.

9. Quantum Drift

Imagine that instead of having only isolated parallel worlds, they are always meeting and mixing into one another. Quantum Drift deals with what happens when individuals and items from alternate worlds begin popping up in ours at random.

10. This show is known as Bio-Engineered when released on Netflix.

This Netflix production raises questions about the ethics behind genetic engineering. As humans can now be created using animal DNA, a detective must solve crimes that seem to connect to people with these genetic changes.

Reading The Island of Doctor Moreau as a youngster made me curious and also quite uncomfortable about the notion of human-animal creatures.

This play scratches the same nerve-wracking points as Mother but with a modern and sci-fi-inspired edge.

11. The Last Letter

A movie in the found-footage style about explorers in space who encounter something unexplainable on another planet. Because of the grainy footage and mounting suspense, this film is extremely unnerving to watch.

12. Robot Redemption

Many robots do not aim to take over the world. In Robot Redemption, a service robot leaves its old position to reunite with its original owner by driving through the landscape and meeting friends on the way.

13. Celestial Cartographers

With discoveries happening as often as they do in this galaxy, Celestial Cartographers introduces a group of adventurers who find a planet that confuses them and makes them question their knowledge of the universe.

14. This is known as the Silent Signal.

As a strange signal from outer space brings on a worldwide brain phenomenon, several experts work to grasp its causes and what it could mean for human life. This sci-fi draws our attention to the power of communication and the things we have yet to understand.

15. Echo Bloom

An eye-catching film that follows the results of a mysterious event that showers Earth with glowing, bright organisms. While humans adjust to the changed world, they discover fascinating secrets about the Bloom and whether it has a mind of its own.
